Assistant Athletic Director/Athletic TrainerSteve has been working with Temple ISD athletes for 21 years. He received his Bachelors degree in Athletic Training from Texas State University in 1994 and later completed his Masters degreee in Sports Management. In addition to his athletic trainer duties, Steve has served as the Assistant Athletic Director since 2000. From 2008-2011 he served as the Head Softball Coach at THS, leading the team to their best record in school history in 2011. He and his wife Gina, elementary PE teacher at Cater, have 10 year old twin girls, Carsyn and Chloe. His Hobbies include hunting and golf.
Athletic TrainerWindee has been working with Temple ISD athletes for 14 years. She received her Bachelor of Science in 2001 and received her Masters in Education Administration from Lamar University in 2013. Windee teaches Sports Medicine II & III classes, as well as heading up our Athletic Training Student Program. Windee Skrabanek was recognized for her life saving actions in March of 2016, receiving the prestigious Excellence in Athletic Training Award from the Southwest Athletic Trainers’ Association (SWATA). She was one of only three trainers to the receive the 2017 award, presented at the SWATA Honors & Awards Ceremony held in San Marcos. Windee is married to Gary Skrabanek, an electrician with Amos Electric. They are the proud parents of 8 year old son Kyler James. Windee enjoys working athletic events and spending time with her family.
Kelly Palmer, MS, ATC, LAT
Kelly is in her first year at Temple High School but has been working as an athletic trainer in Texas for the past 5 years, first in Donna TX and most recently El Paso, TX. She received her bachelors in athletic training from Kent State University in Kent, OH and her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM. Kelly will be teaching Sports Medicine I as well as helping with the athletic training program.
Kelly is married to Sean Palmer and they both enjoy looking after their 2 dogs and traveling back to Ohio and Arkansas to visit their families. She loves football, including The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Chicago Bears.
Mike Lefner, LAT
Athletic Trainer/Elementary PE TeacherMike has been working with Temple ISD athletes for 29 years. He graduated from Temple High School and Baylor University. Mike teaches elementary physical education at Hector P. Garcia and provides athletic training services to all three of our middle schools. He also maintains the Temple Wildcat Athletics Facebook and Twitter accounts and is our resident sports photographer.
