Varsity Softball · Wylie ends Temple’s breakthrough season in area round

WHITNEY — In a season of thrills not experienced within Temple softball in a handful of years, the Tem-Cats faced one final adventure Friday night. By the end of it, Temple still stood, held up by the program’s most successful season since 2014.

Wylie, though, moved on.

The Lady Pirates went ahead to stay after a four-run third inning in Game 2 of the Class 6A area-round series and defeated the Tem-Cats 9-1 to sweep the best-of-three encounter.

“First year in 6A for Temple and this group set a high bar,” Temple fourth-year head coach Jessica Harborth said. “The loss hurts. It hurts. But, at the end of the day, they have to be proud of what they put together and they have to be proud of their season and they have to be proud of themselves.”
