WACO – The Temple junior varsity softball team defeated Waco on Monday afternoon by a score of 15-0 at the Waco ISD Sports Complex.
The Tem-Cats got a masterful pitching performance and solid defense as sophomore pitcher Nadia Frausto pitched a perfect game. The game ended in the third inning due to the run rule, as Frausto retired all nine batter she faced. Frausto induced 7 ground ball outs, a line out and a pop out in her three innings of work. Credit must also be given as her defense was flawless in making their plays in the field.
Temple scored five runs in each of the first three innings to build the 15 run lead.
Angie Cox scored three runs for the Tem-Cats reaching base via a walk and twice hit by pitch. Tiara Robinson was 1-1 with 2 runs scored and Esmeralda Marenco was 1-2 with a double and 2 runs scored. Jacqulyn Lara also slugged a triple and scored a run for the Tem-Cats.
Temple was very disciplined at the plate as they drew 8 walks on the afternoon and had 4 hit batters .
Temple improved to 3-1 in district play and is scheduled to face Midway at home on Tuesday beginning at 12:00 pm.
