KILLEEN – The Temple boys soccer team erased a 3-0 second half deficit in a flurry of penalty kicks only end in a 4-4 tie, and lose the penalty kick portion of the match 5-3.
Temple fell behind the Eagles 3-0 just 6 minutes into the second half of play. That’s when series of fouls gave Temple three consecutive penalty kicks to knot the game at 3-3. Temple got penalty kick goals from Luis Rojas in the 50th minute and two more by Angel Medrano in the 52nd and 53rd minutes to draw even with the Eagles.
The Wildcats then seized a 4-3 lead in the 62nd minute as Abraham Guzman was able to find the goal. However, Ellison responded with a game-tying goal in the 78th minute to end regulation play at 4-4. In the penalty kick portion of the match, Ellison defeated Temple 5-3 to earn the extra point in the district standings.
Temple-4-4-5 on the season will play at home on Friday when they host Waco High at 8:00 pm.
