HARKER HEIGHTS – The Wildcats traveled to Harker Heights on Friday in hopes of ending their season on a high note. Quintin Johnston made sure that would happen as the junior poured in 21 points to help pace the Wildcats past Harker Heights by a score of 59-48 in District 12-6A boys basketball action.
Harker Heights came out hot and outscored the Wildcats 16-13 in the first quarter as Jaiden Pate helped keep Temple close with five of his game high seven points in the quarter.
Temple rallied in the second quarter to tally 17 points and take a 30-25 lead into halftime.
Led by Johnston’s six point third quarter, Temple outscored the Knights 10-2 coming out of the break and increased their lead to 46-31 by the end of the third quarter.
Quintin Johnston led Temple with 21 points on the night while Gadge Smith posted 14 points. Jamal Philips had 8, Jaiden Pate 7, J’Don Garcia 4, Roman Jackson, Montavion Carlyse each with 2 and Leon Hudson with 1 point.
Temple finishes the season with an overall record of 10-22 and a district record of 4-12.
