The Temple boys junior varsity basketball teams played a pair of home games this past week and finished with a record of 1-1 against Midway and Copperas Cove.
On Wednesday, the Wildcats fell to Midway by a score of 43-30. Temple led 9-6 after one quarter of play but the Panthers took a 16-15 lead into the half. Midway extended their lead to 28-25 by the end of the third quarter and outscored Temple 15-5 in the fourth quarter.
J’Don Garcia led Temple with 9 points while Ramsis Meyer had 6 points. Luke Allen and Joseph Stewart chipped in 4 points, Syre Maxwell 3 and with 2 points apiece Phabian Minor and KD Freeman.
Temple hosted Copperas Cove on Friday and defeated the Bulldawgs 36-35. Temple trailed Copperas Cove 27-16 at the half and held the Bulldawgs to 8 points in the second half. Led by J’Don Garcia’s 8 fourth quarter points, the Wildcats outscored the Bulldawgs 10-4 in the final quarter of play.
Garcia led the Wildcat with 8 points with Treyvion Wells dropping in 6 points. Luke Allen had 5 points, Syre Maxwell, Joseph Stewart and Ramsis Meyer 4, KD Freeman 3 and Phabian Minor 2 points.
Temple improved to 8-7 on the season and 2-5 in district play. The Wildcats will host Harker Heights on Tuesday at 5 pm.
