KILLEEN – The Temple junior varsity boys basketball team shook off a rough third quarter o rally past Killeen Shoemaker on Tuesday night by a score of 44-40 and collect their first district win of the season.
Temple carried a 20-15 lead into halftime, but a 15-3 third quarter run by the Grey Wolves forced the Wildcats into a 30-23 deficit entering the fourth quarter. In the fourth, J’Don Garcia scored 11 of his game high 15 points to propel the Wildcats past the Shoemaker 21-10 in the final quarter of play.
Rico Troup came up big for Temple in the fourth also as he tallied 8 of his game high 10 points in the quarter.
Carlos Torres added 6 points while Ramsis Meyer, Isaiah Fach and Joseph Stewart each had 3 points.
Temple improved to 4-1 on the season and 1-0 in district play. The Wildcats will host Belton next Tuesday at Wildcats Gym beginning at 5:00.
