HEWITT – The Temple junior varsity white football team rallied from behind to defeat Midway on Thursday night at Panther Field by a score of 14-12.
With the Wildcats trailing 12-6 with less that 4 minutes remaining, the Wildcats drove down the field and tied the game at 12-12 on a Jeffery Warren touchdown run. Temple went for the 2-point conversion and Warren once again found the endzone fort the Wildcats first lead of the contest at 14-12.
Damien Robertson accounted for the first Wildcats score with a first half touchdown which helped the Wildcats take a 6-6 lead into the half.
The offensive line consisting of Dontrell Thomas-McCraney, Morquell Canady-Shelton, Kwinton Footman, Luis Munoz, Keshaun Stevens did a great job of opening holes for the backs. Joseph Ayers stepped in as the TE and Edward Torres at the H back to help move the ball on the ground.
Defensively for the Wildcats, Edward Torres, Kevon Malone, Jalen Trevino, Morquell Canady-Shelton each had sacks to help the defense. Kevon Malone had a forced fumble to seal the game with just seconds left on the clock. Jalen Trevino recovered the fumble.
Temple improved to 4-1 in district play and 5-3 on the season. The Wildcats will host Copperas Cove at Wildcat Stadium next week to close out the season.
