The Temple freshman white football team defeated Midway by a score of 20-12 on Thursday night at Wildcats Stadium.
Midway scored on their first possession to take a 6-0 lead on the Wildcats. However, Temple responded late in the first quarter with a Keaundre Smith 10- yard TD run to tie the game at 6-6.
A Kaleb Hill 21-yard touchdown a pass followed by Jarell walker 2-point conversion gave the Wildcats a 14-6 lead going into halftime.
Hill the connected with Alex Alvarez for a 10- yard TD pass to extend the Wildcats lead to 20-6 midway in the third quarter.
Although the defense bent at times, they came up big with numerous stops on the night. The Wildcat defense turned away a Panther 1st and goal inside the three goal line late to preserve the victory and the Wildcats forced several turnovers on the night. Jaden Jackson had both a fumble recover and interception, Joshua Soto recovered a fumble and Nicholas Scopac recovered a muffed punt by the Panthers.
Temple improved to 4-2 in district play and 5-3 on the season. Temple will travel to Copperas Cove next Thursday to close out the regular season.
