Varsity Football · Wildcats set for District 12-6A opener vs. Knights

The Temple Wildcats have gotten off to an excellent start this season, beating Round Rock Cedar Ridge and Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon (Mexico) by a combined score of 88-39. They’ve scored six touchdowns of 50-plus yards. Last week, their defense made two interceptions and allowed only 19 first-half yards.

Temple is an experienced team that’s focused on winning the District 12-6A championship and making its sixth straight playoff appearance.

The Harker Heights Knights have endured a difficult start this season, losing twice while being outscored 81-29. They trailed Round Rock 22-0 at halftime in a 36-7 loss, then compiled just 133 yards total offense and allowed 38 consecutive points in last week’s 45-22 setback at Round Rock Stony Point.
