Girls Varsity Volleyball · Tem-Cats pick up first win at Westwood Showcase

AUSTIN – After a pair of tight losses to open the Westwood Volleyball Showcase on Thursday, the Tem-Cat volleyball team collected their first win of the season with a 25-12, 25-22 victory over China Spring in their final pool play game of the day.

Temple finished in third place overall in their pool with a record of 1-2.

Earlier in the day, the Tem-Cats dropped a three game match to Cedar Park by a score of 25-16, 21-25, 25-9 and a 25-22, 24-26, 25-19 match to RR McNeil, a team that defeated them in their season opener on Tuesday.

Leaders for the Tem-Cats were Autumn Dowell  20 kills, 11 blocks, 6 aces; Kenna Fort 35 assists; Julianna Torres 17 kills  2 aces; Jessica Vaden 4 aces, 18 kills; Rhea Miles 3 kills and Kaitlynn Goode with 3 kills.

Friday will see the Tem-Cats play three more pool play games in which all games will be played at Round Rock High School.

Temple (1-3) will face Poth at 10:00 am , followed by the Round Rockat 11:00 am and conclude with Round Rock Stony Point  at 1:00 pm
