Girls Varsity Volleyball · Tem-Cats drop hard fought match at McNeil

AUSTIN – The Tem-Cat volleyball team opened the 2018 season on Tuesday night with a hard fought four game loss to Round Rock McNeil on the road by a score of 23-25, 25-22, 24-26, 21-25.

The Tem-Cats were led by senior Autumn Dowell who recorded team highs in aces with 4, kills 10 and blocks with 4. Mia Ward dished out a team high 18 assist while Kenna Fort was close behind with 14 assist . Juliana Torres and Jessica Vaden each recorded 8 kills in the match while Hayli Hesse knocked down 6 kills. Seniors Rhea Miles and Kaitlynn Goode each recorded 2 kills and 2 blocks apiece.

Head coach JoAnna Vaden was very impressed with how strong her team came out and played well as a team and showed a tremendous amount of heart and hustle.

The Tem-Cats (0-1) will turn around quickly and play in their first tournament of the season, the Round Rock Westwood Showcase. On Thursday, the Tem-Cats will play three matches against quality opponents; Cedar Park @ 12:00, RR McNeil @ 3:00 and China Spring @ 4:00. All games will be played at McNeil High School.

Pools will be reseeded on Friday for three more matches and Saturday will conclude with bracket play.
