The Temple boys junior varsity basketball team closed the home portion of their schedule with a 48-42 over University on Friday night in District 18-5A action.
Ki’Auntre Hayes 5 first quarter points helped stake the Wildcats to a 11-10 lead after the first quarter of play and J’Don Garcia’s four second quarter points extend the Wildcat lead to 25-21 at the half.
Anterrion Dobbins record five points in the third as the Wildcat defense clamped down on the Trojans and extended the lead to 39-26 by the end of the third quarter. University made a run at the Cats in the fourth, but Temple sank 5 of 6 free throws down the stretch to end the University rally.
K.J. McMurray led teh Wildcats with 9 points while Gadge Smith, J’Don Garcia and Ki’Auntre Hayes each had 7. Caleb Cook had 6, Anterrion Dobbins 5, Jamal Phillips 4 and Kenny Morrison with 3.
Temple improved to 7-3 in district play and 20-6 on the season. Temple will close the season on Tuesday with a road game at A&M Consolidated beginning at 5:00.
