Weather conditions were less than ideal for Temple’s game against Killeen on Thursday. With 40-degree temperatures and wind gusts up to 30 mph, Temple coach Royce Mitchel knew that a change in the game plan was required to combat the elements.
“The first-half goal, playing against the wind, was to just keep a zero on the scoreboard for Killeen,” Mitchel said. “We possessed the ball more than I thought we would, which is great considering the conditions. Our goal in the second half was to get as many shots on goal as we could. We accomplished both of those, which is why we got the victory.”
Despite the continuous barrage of wind, the Lady Wildcats captured a 2-0 victory over the Lady Roos at Wildcat Stadium on the first day of the Temple tournament. The win improved Temple’s win streak to six games, with three consecutive shutouts.
