Girls Varsity Basketball · Pickett’s drive meshes with Tem-Cats’ aspirations

One of the buzz words circulating around Temple’s girls basketball team this season is “why?” It isn’t used, necessarily, in the form of a question, but more so as a portal to discovering a reason.

“You have to have a why when you’re playing the sport of basketball,” senior Chadricka Pickett said.

Pickett’s why? Head coach Tamarah Sanders believes the tenacious guard has recognized her why, and it’s gone a long way toward the product Pickett has put on the court this season — one that has gone quite well so far for the Tem-Cats.

Temple (18-5) is currently No. 8 in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches’ Class 5A rankings and can complete an unbeaten 6-0 run through the first half of District 18-5A play with a victory over Bryan at Wildcat Gym on Friday.
