Makenna Holland tossed a complete game shutout as Temple erupted for 11 fourth inning runs as the Temple softball team evened their district record at 2-2 with a 16-0 win over Waco High on Tuesday evening at the Waco ISD Sports Complex.
Temple secured the victory thanks to 11 runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was highlighted by a 2-run double from Hope Reeves and a 3-run inside the park home run from Alexis Lewis to put the Tem-Cats up 16-0.
Makenna Holland earned the win for Temple. She pitched four innings, allowing zero runs, two hits, and striking out six. Caitlynn Graham took the loss for Waco High. She threw four innings, surrendering 16 runs, and 12 hits.
After a scoreless first inning, Hope Reeves RBI double and Anysia Jones 2-run single put the Tem-Cats up 4-0 in the second. Holland walked and scored on a error in the third to extend the Tem-Cat lead to 5-0.
Temple had 12 hits in the game. Four Tem-Cats collected a pair of hits on the night. Alexis Lewis was 2-4 with a HR and 4 RBI; Anysia Jones 2-3 2 RBI; Madison Wacker 2-4 double; Hope Reeves 2-3, 2 double 3 RBI, 2 runs scored. Makenna Holland was 1-3 with 3 runs scored; Chadricka Pickett 1-2 RBI 2 runs scored and Bryanna Salas 1-3 RBI run scored.
Temple improves to 7-10 on the season and 2-2 in 18-5A play. They will return to play on March 24th when the host College Station.
