Boys Varsity Track · Wildcats claim team title at Killeen Relays

KILLEEN – The Temple boys track & field team used three first place finishes in the relay events to win the team title at the Killeen ISD Relays on Friday at Leo Buckley Stadium.

Temple scored a team total 117 points to defeat second place Harker Heights (89) and third place Killeen Ellison (87).

Temple swept the relay events collecting the maximum 60 points in the three events. Temple’s 4×100 relay team ran a 41.66 to edge out Harker Heights 41.92. The 4×200 relay team ran a 1:27.42 to top Killeen Ellison 1:28.07 and the 4×400 relay team ran a 3:18.43 to coast past Harker Heights (3:21.95).

Chuey Hernandez also claimed a gold medal for Temple as he took first place in the 3200 meters with a time of 10:08.72.

The Wildcats also earned two silver medals, Chris Cadavid in the 3200 meters (10:18.25) and Quentin Johnson in the high jump as he cleared 6’4.
