Girls 7th Grade Travis Track, Girls 8th Grade Travis Track · Travis girls track & field results at the Rockdale Relays

ROCKDALE – The Travis Science Academy 7th & 8th grade girls track & field team opened the season on Thursday night by competing the Rockdale Relays. The 8th grade finished 5th Place in their division while the 7th grade claimed 1st Place in their division. Here are some of the results from Thursday night.

8th Grade

The 8th grade finished in 5th Place with a total of 50 points. The Lady Mustangs did have a pair of athletes win silver medals. Finishing second in the 800 meter run was Gabby Soto with a 2:48.81 while Akazia Thompson had a throw of 65’0 to take second in the discus.

7th Grade

The Travis 7th grade took 1st Place in the Rockdale Relays. The Lady Mustangs earned six gold medals to go along with three silver medals. They tallied 135 team points to defeat second place Rockdale who had 127.

Ajiah Taylor took 1st Place in both hurdle events as she won the 100 hurdles in a time of 18.19 and took gold in the 300 hurdles in a time of 57.43. Nyteria Colbert won the long jump with a leap of 14’6; Kiera Evlyn the discus with a throw of 55’5 and D’Ondrea Holley cleared 4’4 to win the high jump.

Travis also took 1st Place in the 4×200 relay in a time of 1:58.21. The team included Amaya benekin, D’Ondrea Holley, Jasmin Taylor and Nyteria Colbert.

Earning silver medals for the Lady Mustangs were Nyteria Colbert in the high jump (3’10) and a pair of relay teams. The 4×100 relay team of Ariana Jones, D’Ondrea Holley, Jasmin Taylor and Nyteria Colbert ran a 55.72 while the 4×400 relay team of D’Ondrea Holley, Jasmin Taylor, Lyric Bridges and Nyteria Colbert ran a time of 4:54.56.
