COPPERAS COVE – The Bonham girls 7th and 8th grade girls track and field teams opened the season this past Friday in the Five Hills Relays held at Bulldawg Stadium in Copperas Cove. Here are some of the results from those athletes that placed.
The 8th grade team finished in 7th Place overall with a team total of 51.5 points. Lavina Brown captured a gold medal in the 400 meters for the Lady Bulldogs as she ran a 66.62 in the open quarter.
Also placing for the Bulldogs were:
Taliyah Johnson 3rd – 200 meters (30.41)
Jasmine Chambers 4th – 200 meters (30.51)
McKenzie Hughes 3rd – Shot Put (30’5)
Alexis Willis 5th – High Jump (4’4)
4×100 Relay (Lavina Brown, Jasmine Chambers, Castillo Espinoza, Taliyah Johnson) 3rd (55.66)
4×200 Relay (Jasmine Chambers, Castillo Espinoza, Haleigh Johnson, Taliyah Johnson) 3rd (2:01.54)
The 7th Grade team took 5th Place overall in the team standings with 58 points. Aniyiah Hines claimed a gold medal in the 200 meter dash running a time of 29.49. The Lady Bulldogs also earned three silver medals; those coming from Aaliya Thomas in both the 2400 meter run (10:08) the 1600 meter run (6:22.94) and Chloe Prentiss in the triple jump with a jump of 27’10 1/2.
