BELTON – The Temple boys varsity track & field team participated in the Big Red Relays on Saturday held at Tiger Field in Belton. The Wildcats collected three gold medals en route to taking second place in the overall team standings of the 16 team invitational.
Temple finished with a total of 102.5 points for second place only behind Killeen Ellison which finished with 122 points.
Temple earned a pair of gold medals in the running events as Willari Watson edged Eric Caine of Copperas Cove to win the 100 meters title in a time of 10.76. Xavier Johnson took first in the 400 meters as he ran a 49.49 to eclipse three runners from Killeen Ellison.
The 4×400 relay team of Willari Watson, Xavier Johnson, BJ Sculark and Jemiyah Franklin closed the meet by taking gold in a time of 3:20.07.
The Wildcats also took several silver medals on the day, Jemiyah Franklin was 2nd in the 200 meters (21.90) and Taran Holmes second in the 300 hurdles (41.15). The 4×100 relay team of Jemiyah Franklin, Willari Watson, Marques Thompkins and D’Yonte Heckstall also took silver in a time of 42.86.

Temple will back in action on Saturday when they will host the Temple Invitational at Wildcat Stadium beginning at 9:00 am.
