The Temple Lady Wildcats knew that if they could get an opportunity to shoot, chances were good that they could score.
The issue was getting the opportunity to shoot.
The Lady Wildcats had just two shots on goal and suffered a tough 2-1 loss to Bryan in their home opener at Woodson Field on Friday.
“It was a tough loss, one I feel like we could have won,” Temple coach Royce Mitchel said. “Shooting was almost non-existent tonight. Even though we had some opportunities, we couldn’t pull the trigger.”
Temple’s lone goal came with 12 minutes, 21 seconds left in the opening half, when Carley Douglas took a pass just inside the penalty box and took a quick shot on the ground that curved just to the right of Bryan goalkeeper Cassandra Sanchez, tying the game at 1.
The way Temple’s defense was playing, it looked as if that goal could at least earn a tie. Even though Bryan had opportunities, the Lady Vikings (3-4, 1-1 18-5A) had just the two goals and seven other shots on goal.
