On the eve of opening night this season, Temple coach Tamarah Sanders discussed what it might take for her Tem-Cats to reach their potential.
One characteristic Sanders felt would be instrumental was composure. She wanted her players to handle the good and bad with a sense of perspective and poise. The finest example yet of that came Monday night in the bi-district round of the Class 5A playoffs.
After an ideal start, things went haywire in the second quarter against College Station and those 8 minutes could’ve dictated the entire second half if the Tem-Cats weren’t able to deal with the difficulties they encountered. The halftime breather helped Temple get itself together and the Tem-Cats re-asserted themselves for a rather comfortable 47-34 victory in the end.
