The Temple Wildcats will host an unbeaten Hutto Hippo team in their homecoming game Friday night at Wildcat Stadium.
The Wildcats 3-0 in 17-5A and 5-1 on the season find themselves ranked #3 in state coming into the game and have looked impressive in their 3-0 start to the new 17-5A. Temple routed University and Pflugerville Connally by a combined total off 133-7. Temple’s other victory came over a very athletic Manor team 28-14 two weeks ago.
Hutto 6-0 comes in the game ranked # 17 in the state and is 2-0 in 17-5A with victories over Pflugerville Connally 44-0 and Waco 34-3.
Hutto has been very stingy on defense this season allowing only 23 points this season and recording shutouts in three of their last four game. Hutto’s closest game this season was a 38-14 victory over Class 4A Waco La Vega.
Temple comes into the game leading the area in offense at 570 yards a game while Hutto comes in averaging 416 yards a game. Hutto has been giving up a mere 125 yards per game on defense while the Wildcat defense yields on average 229 yards per game.
Many Temple alumni will make the trip back to their home as several class reunions will be held this week with the classes of 1979, 1984, 1994 and 2004 all holding reunions this week.
