The Tem-Cat and Wildcat Cross Country teams competed at the Waco Invitational on Thursday.  The Tem-Cats took home the 1st place plaque with a strong overall performance.  Leading the girls was Arleth Subiria who took silver in a time of 21:22.  She was followed by top 10 medalists Jackie Vass (6th), Carly Moore (8th), and Hannah Esparza (9th).  Freshman Gaby Soto completed the scoring for the Tem-Cats finishing in 15th.  Other finishers were Lexi Medlock (19th), Janet Cisneros (20th), Allison Sodek (24th), and Alyssa Velasquez (25th).

The JV girls narrowly missed out on 1st place finishing 1 point behind Copperas Cove.  Medalists for the girls were Erika Garcia, Ajah McNiel, Lauren Munoz, and Amya McNiel.

The Wildcats finished 2nd behind Killeen Ellison and were led by gold medalist, Chuey Hernandez, who completed the course in 17:04.  The other medalists were Luis Rojas 4th and Kamron Gossett in 10th.  Rounding out the scoring for the boys were Chris Cadavid (12th) and Seth Little (15th).  Other finishers were Avery Rodriguez (22nd), Bryce Richardson (26th), and Caleb Cook (31st).

The JV Boys were 3rd and again were led by two freshman, Austin Madsen (14th) and JaTavion Gossett (19th).

Other scorers were Jayquan Head (43rd), Zakkary Diserens (46th), and Nelson Soto (47th).

Coach Melvin was very pleased with the performances.  “We really ran well.  Chuey took gold for the 2nd straight year on a very tough day.  The air was thick and it was humid.  Arleth continues to be very consistent as well.  It was good to see Carly Moore run well.  The girls are really putting themselves in a great position as district approaches.”

Both teams will compete at the McNeil Invitational this next Saturday.
