The Wildcat and Tem-Cat varsity cross country teams competed at the Cedar Park Invitational on Saturday.

The Wildcats finished 9th out of 28 teams. Leading the way for the Cats was Chuey Hernandez who finished in 36th place in a time of 18:10. Rounding out the scoring were Luis Rojas (50th), Chris Cadavid (57), Seth Little (96th), and Caleb Cook (12th). Bryce Richardson finished in 140th, Avery Rodriguez (178th) and Austin Madsen (180th) also competed for the Cats.
The Tem-Cats finished 10th out of 17 teams and again were led by Arleth Subiria. Subiria finished 38th in a time of 22:18. Sophomore, Hannah Esparza, was next in 48th place followed by Jackie Vass (58th), Gaby Soto (66th), and Carly Moore (72nd). Other finishers for the Tem-Cats were Allison Sodek (83rd), Janet Cisneros (90th), Alyssa Velasquez (121st) ans Lexie Short (131st).
Coach Melvin stated, “The meet always has one of the strongest fields in the state and the course is tough. Both teams really competed. Its not a course where you see many personal bests. I am excited about the varsity debuts for Esparza and freshman Gaby Soto. Both performed very well for their first 5k. Both teams continue to head in the right direction and we will continue to put in the necessary work.”
Both teams will compete at the HOT Invitational in Waco this next Thursday.
