Temple track athletes advance to regional finals

HUMBLE – The Temple boys and girls track & field teams competed in the Class 5A Region III Track & Field Championships on Friday at Turner Stadium in Humble.

In the lone final running event of the day, Chuey Hernandez took 5th place in the 3200 meters with a time of 10:16.38.

The boys team advanced two relays and three individuals into Saturday’s finals. In the individual events, Willari Watson had the fifth fastest time in the 100 meters (10.98); Xavier Johnson, sixth in the 200 meters (22.30) and Jemiyah Franklin was third in the 400 with a time of 47.72.

The boys also saw both the 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams advance to Saturday’s final. They posted times on 42.01 nad 3:18.41 respectively.

On the girls team, Rhea Miles advanced to finals of the 400 meters with a time of 57.50.

Running finals will begin on Saturday at 1:30 pm.
