WACO – The Tem-Cat softball team was forced to move their home game with Waco on Tuesday to the turf field of the Waco ISD Sports Complex. However that was fine as the Tem-Cats snapped their losing streak by collecting nine hits en route to their 10-0 victory over the Waco Lady Lions in District 18-5A action.
Following a scoreless first inning, the Tem-Cats scored four second inning runs and and three more in the third and fourth inning apiece to finish off the Lady Lions in five innings.
Makenna Holland earned the win for Temple. She went four innings, surrendering zero runs, two hits, striking out five, and walking one, while Hayli Hesse came in and tossed one inning of hitless ball in the fifth. Caitlynn Graham took the loss for Waco. She threw four innings, surrendering ten runs, nine hits, and striking out one.
Temple’s four run second inning was keyed by Madison Wacker’s RBI double to start the scoring while Hayli Hesse finished the scoring in the fourth with a 2-run triple and crossing the plate on a catcher’s error.
Temple’s Madison Wacker and Tayler Guerra each collected multiple hits for the Tem-Cats. Guerra was 2-3 with 2 runs scored; Wacker 2-2 with a double, RBI and 2 runs scored. Hesse was 1-3 with the triple, 3 RBI and 3 runs scored.
Temple (3-7, 8-15) will travel to College Station next Tuesday for a matchup with the district leading Lady Cougars.
