BRYAN – The Tem-Cat softball team rallied but came up short in a 2-1 loss to Bryan Rudder on Friday night at Rudder High School.
Bryan Rudder pushed across single unearned runs in the second and third innings to carry a 2-0 lead into the seventh inning when the Tem-Cats began their rally.
Bryanna Salas led the inning off with a triple to deep center field. Courtney Massar reached on a fielder’s choice to short as the throw went home to get Salas out at the plate trying to score. Massar eventually moved to third base when Makenna Holland flied out to the right fielder for the second out. Alexis Lewis then delivered an RBI single to center to cut the Lady Ranger lead in half. On the play, Lewis advanced to second on an error by the center fielder. However, Madison Wacker grounded out to first base for the final out of the inning as the the Lady Rangers took the victory 2-1.
Rebecca Delgado earned the win for Bryan Rudder. She threw seven innings, giving up one run, five hits. Makenna Holland took the loss for Temple. She pitched six innings, giving up two unearned runs, and five hits. Neither pitcher on the night recorded a strikeout.
Anysia Jones, Makenna Holland, Bryanna Salas, Madison Wacker, and Alexis Lewis all had one hit to lead Temple. Holland’s hits was a double while Salas recorded a triple.
Temple fell to 2-7 in district play and 7-15 overall. The Tem-Cats will host Waco on Tuesday at 7 pm.
