TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) Temple High School is now a certified National Athletic Training Association “Safe Sports School.”

The school applied for the award in February, which required proof of certain safety policies, emergency action plans, CPR paperwork, and properly equipped practice facilities.

Athletic Trainer Windee Skrabanek said the distinction reassures parents that their student athletes are in good hands.

“Sometimes when you read the paperwork each year, and you sign it, you just kind of take that for granted, but knowing that the staff is going the extra mile to make sure that we follow those policies is a big deal,” Skrabanek said.

Temple High School is one of 47 in Texas to be named a “Safe Sports School,” which is valid for three years.
