JV/Freshman basketball sweep Australian teams

The Temple boys freshman and junior varsity basketball teams won their games on Wednesday night with visiting teams from Sidney Australia. The junior varsity team won 65-54 and the freshman team won 49-36.

In the junior varsity game, the wildcats got a team high 17 points from Austin Weldin in the 65-54 victory over Newington. Temple outscored the visitors from Australia 20-7 in the second quarter to open a 30-13 lead by the half. Kevon Parker led the Wildcat surge by scoring all 10 of his points in the first half.

Jayden Barrow tallied 10 for the Wildcats with Lathyn Castilleja chipping in 8 and Anthony Clark 6.

Temple improved to 15-3 on the season.

The freshman team won 49-36 as Elcid Smith was the high scorer with 13 points. Jaiden Pate 8 of his game high 13 points in the first quarter to help the Wildcats pull ahead 16-2 to start the game. Jacob Hudson scored 7 and Quintin Johnston had 6 for the Wildcats.

The Temple freshman improved to 13-1 on the season.
