DUNCANVILLE – The Tem-cat basketball team closed out play on Thursday in the Sandra Meadows Classic in Duncanville by splitting a pair of games. In their opener, the Tem-Cats defeated Prestonwood Academy 60-49 but later fell in a heart breaker to Plano East 59-58.
Jhakya Dilworth was the star for Temple as she scored 28 points in the win over Prestonwood and tallied 31 in the loss to Plano East.
Temple rolled out to a 30-16 lead on Prestonwood by the half as Coryn Grovey, who had 10 points in the game sank a pair of 3-pointers in the second quarter to open up the Temple lead. Dilworth helped seal the game away by scoring 12 points in the final quarter of play. Wilashia Burleson chipped in 8 while Breaunna Sigler had 7.
In the second game, Temple carried a 50-44 lead into the fourth but Plano East held the Tem-Cats to eight fourth quarter points in the comeback. Dilworth posted 31 points with 21 of those points coming in the first half. Burleson had 9 while Grovey had 8.
