Tem-Cat freshman take silver at Waco ISD tournament

WACO – The Temple girls freshman basketball team had an outstanding weekend as they took 2nd Place in the Waco ISD tournament.

The Tem-Cats went 3-1 over the weekend but fell to Killeen Ellison in the championship game.

Here is a recap of the games for Temple:

In their opener, the Tem-Cats defeated Waco Connally 58-8. Three Tem-Cats had 10 points apiece; Kloey Sanders, Oriana Valdez and Haleigh Johnson. Tamera Copeland had 7 and with 6 points apiece were Quinteria Russell and Raven Riley.

In their second game, Temple defeated the Killeen Ellison B team 57-16. Oriana Valdez led the Tem-cats with 12 points while Quinteria Russell had 10, Tamera Copeland 9 and with 5 points apiece were Esmeralda Marenco and Khlorese Carrasco.

On Saturday, The Tem-Cats defeated Lorena 36-17 in the tournament semifinals but fell to the Killeen Ellison A team 31-23 in the championship game.

Temple is (8-3) on the season and will open district play on Friday at Waco University.
