ROUND ROCK – The Tem-Cat volleyball team picked up a victory over Belton on the final day of the Westwood Showcase played at the Premier Athletic Complex in Round Rock.

The Tem-Cats, playing in the bronze bracket, defeated their rival for the first time since 2011 by a hard fought score of 24-26, 25-16, 25-19. Both teams looked much improved from their scrimmage a week earlier and Coach Courtney Mitchell was extremely pleased with the high level of play she saw from her team. No particular player could be singled out as they all raised the level of their play.

Temple advanced to face Killeen Ellison in the bracket semi-finals but fell in another close match 25-18, 26-24. Ellison went on to defeat Poth for the championship of the bracket.

After starting the tournament 0-3, Temple won three of their final five games to finish with a record of 3-5.

The Tem-Cats will now return home on Tuesday where they will host Austin McCallum at 6:30. The junior varsity and freshman teams will open their seasons on Tuesday when they host McCallum beginning at 5:30 pm.
