COPPERAS COVE – The Bonham Bulldogs opened the 2017 track season this past Friday at the Five Hills Meet held in Copperas Cove.
The 8th Grade Boys took 5th Place with a total of 40 points in their division.
Ky’Juan Pugh had the top showing with a 1st Place finish in the 100 meters. Pugh ran a 12.23 in winning his gold medal.
However, the Bulldogs had several other athletes place too. They include:
Abraham Arjon 4th and Arenas Almanza 5th in the 300 hurdles. Their times were 49.71 and 50.12 respectively. Matthew Virgen was 5th in the long jump (17’4 1/2) and Orlando Virgen 2nd in the triple jump 36’1 1/4).
All three relay teams placed in the meet also. The 4×100 relay of Billy Cobb, Ky’Juan Pugh, Matthew Virgen and Antwon Willett was 4th (48.80); 4×200 relay of Billy Cobb, Ky’Juan Pugh, Matthew Virgen and Antwon Willett 5th ( 1:45.66) and the 4×400 relay team of Easi Esquivel, Aundra Jackson, Matthew Virgen and Orlando Virgen was 6th in a time of 4:38.68.
For the 7th Grade, the 4×100 relay team of Kaleb Boyd, Jaelen Bridges, Triston Cohorn and James Connor ran a time of 53.33 to take 3rd Place in the event.
Bonham had several other athletes that placed in the first track meet of the season.
Sergio Guzman took 6th Place in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:02.37. Kaleb Boyd was 4th in the 110 hurdles in a time of 21.80 and Jaelen Bridges had a jump of 16’7 3/4 in the long jump to take 2nd Place overall.
