Temple is refusing to allow Tuesday’s one-point, final-seconds loss to Bryan stick with it in such a way that it spoils what will be a vital few days before the start of the Class 5A girls basketball postseason.

“We have amnesia,” Temple coach Tamarah Sanders said.

As junior Keziah Dilworth put it, the Tem-Cats had been in playoff mode throughout District 18-5A play anyway, and their mindset won’t change or be swayed because of a regular-season closing defeat. The narrow 57-56 setback on a late layup did, however, reinforce the ever-present fact that every second of each game matters, and it was a useful reminder as the Tem-Cats embark on the third phase of their season, which begins with a bi-district matchup at 7 p.m. Monday versus 17-5A second-seed Lindale at Lancaster High School.

“The playoffs are here now and we have to seize the moment,” Dilworth said.
