The Temple Wildcat boys soccer team defeated Liberty Hill on Saturday by a score of 1-0 to win the Consolation Championship of the 2017 Temple Wildcat Soccer Kickoff Classic.
Temple used a penalty kick goal from Giovanny Ramos Nava to take a 1-0 lead at the midway point of the first half and held the Panthers scoreless for the remainder of the contest. Nava’s penalty kick was set up Yael Mendoza Duran was taken down in the penalty box with 17 minutes remaining in the first half. Gabriel Castaneda recorded the shutout in goal for Temple.
In the morning, Temple jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on Midlothian Heritage only to see Heritage score three unanswered goals to defeat Temple 3-2. Jesus Rojas and James Clardy recorded the goals for Temple with Clardy and Anthony Faz picking up assist’ on the goals.
Temple, 3-2 will return to play on Thursday in the Duncanville Tournament.
