The Temple boys soccer team advanced to the second round of the playoffs last season for the first time since 2010. The 2017 Wildcats are set to pick up the baton left behind by their predecessors and hit the ground running toward what coach Matt Corley hopes is another spot in the postseason.
Every sprint needs a warm-up, however, and Temple’s time for testing itself, finding what works and fixing what doesn’t, begins at 4:30 p.m. today against Killeen Shoemaker in the annual Temple Wildcat Kickoff Classic at Woodson Field.
“We are trying to build from the back, the defense first, and form a solid foundation there, then work our way forward,” said Corley, who enters his 12th season as the Wildcats’ coach. “We’re still working on the forward movements and getting guys in position to score on a more consistent basis.”
