Tem-Cats claim 17-5A track & field championship

District Meet 086

The Tem-Cat track & field team pulled off something they have not done in 15 years, win the district title. The Tem-Cat track team used 12 medalist on the final day of the District 17-5A Track & Field Championships to claim the District 17-5A title.

Temple outscored second place Hutto 147.5 to 126 to take first. Manor took third with 121.

Temple managed to pull off the fete with an outstanding overall team performance as they collected only a pair of gold medals, Taleisha Wardale in the shot put and Rhea Miles in the 400. Cienna Womack gathered in three silver medals (triple jump, 110 hurdles, 300 hurldes) and a bronze in the long jump.

Th etop four athletes in each event will advance to the Area Meet which will be held April 22nd at Wildcat Stadium in Temple. The 4×100, 4×400 relays and 16 more individuals will be competing to advance to the regional meet.
